所属協会はアジア太平洋、アメリカ、ヨーロッパ、アフリカの4つに区分され、日本の属するアジア太平洋地域は、17ヶ国(地域)19協会が所属しています。
日本からは日本看護協会助産師職能(以後、本会とする)、日本助産師会、日本助産学会の3つの会員協会が加盟しています。
