JNA is a member of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). It organized the 16th ICN Congress in 1977 in Tokyo, the 22nd ICM Congress in 1990 in Kobe and co-hosted the CNR & ICN Conference in Yokohama 2007.
JNA also has hosted various workshops and local conferences among Asia- Pacific nations. The Japan-China Nursing Conference is held in cooperation with the Chinese Nursing Association every two years since 1991 assisted by JNA.
We've been considering expansion of the exchanges of nurses between Japan and China to among the countries in Asia. As a result, we are going to hold the 1st Japan, China and Korea Nursing Conference in August 2009.
Aiming to strengthen organizational activities JNA implemented a partnership project with Mongolian Nurses Association from 2003 to 2006.
As a national nursing association with an experience of Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake, JNA has supported nurses through each countries' nurses or midwives organizations or government in countries attacked by natural disasters. We have supported and had workshops in Turkey, Iran, India and Sumatra areas.
